SPEED, FIDELITY, & RELIABILITY

A PRACTICAL TECH GUIDE FOR PRODUCERS, DPs, AND VFX LEADS CHOOSING A VIRTUAL PRODUCTION STAGE

WHEN VIRTUAL PRODUCTION CLICKS,
THE WHOLE PRODUCTION HUMS.

Setups turn smoothly, departments stay in rhythm, and choices lock in real time. The schedule holds, crews keep moving, and the pipeline runs smoothly. Tracking, color, and sync stay quiet in the background so the work stays in front of the lens.

At Synapse, those days aren’t luck, they’re engineered. For producers, ADs, and creatives who need predictability on set, the details below show exactly how we deliver it.

WHAT WE OFFER (AT A GLANCE)

Infinite Height™ design for floor-to-ceiling continuity and emboldened creative shots. This configuration eliminates visible seams and horizon cutoffs, allowing directors and DPs to frame with freedom and achieve shots that feel naturally expansive.

Mobile Wild Walls with single-operator control for rapid parallax and reflection adjustments. These walls can be repositioned in minutes, giving productions the agility to respond to creative changes without interrupting the flow of the shoot.

Stage Equipment 3.jpg

Stype RedSpy v3 + Follower tracking, capable of advanced object tracking and motion capture.
This system enables precise integration of CG elements and live action, ensuring every movement stays locked and consistent across departments.

Genlocked pipelines and preconfigured networking to integrate SMPTE 2110/IP workflows when beneficial. By standardizing sync across devices, we minimize latency and ensure every department sees the same frame, reducing reshoots or mismatched timing.

Stage Equipment 4.jpg

Standardized node layouts and Unreal Engine–ready environments for fast look swaps. This approach accelerates creative iteration, making it possible to pivot between scenes or styles quickly while keeping the production schedule on track.

BEYOND THE BUZZWORDS

You’re not buying a buzzword list. You’re booking a synchronized system: genlocked cameras and servers, Unreal driving final‑pixel, Stype RedSpy + Follower for precision tracking, and our Infinite Height™ design with single‑operator Mobile Wild Walls for fast parallax moves.

HOW YOU AND YOUR CREW BENEFIT

Our virtual production services are designed to enhance the way you and your crew work together. By leveraging cutting-edge technology, we streamline the production process, allowing for greater creativity and efficiency between all departments.

With real-time collaboration and immersive environments, your team can focus on what they do best, bringing creative to life.

  • Reset time you can plan around: single‑operator wall moves measured in minutes, with a pre‑agreed reset target for the day

  • Schedule risk controls: house genlock/timecode checklist before first take and after major changes to avoid sync‑related overruns

  • Clear deck‑seam plan: treatment options documented in pre‑pro with art notes and angles so photoreal floors aren’t a surprise

FOR PRODUCERS

  • Close‑up reliability: lighting + panel strategy to keep moiré off skin, hair, and fabrics, with a test chart pass you can review on set

  • Framing and reflections: Infinite Height design for tall comps and reflective floors, with a quick way to audition parallax positions

  • Color confidence: standardized I/O and show LUT workflow so wall, monitors, and camera see the same intent

FOR DPs

  • Sync discipline: genlock and timecode across cameras, servers, and wall, validated with a repeatable pre‑roll check

  • Tracking options: Stype RedSpy for camera truth plus Follower for object truth when choreography matters

  • Handoff sanity: standardized color pipeline and I/O naming to reduce ingest/conform friction, with notes exported after shoot day

FOR VFX LEADS

HOW THIS TRANSLATES ON SET

One operator can position Mobile Wild Walls in minutes, reducing idle crew time and preserving momentum on set.

FASTER RESETS

Infinite Height™ design supports tall compositions and reflective floors with fewer cheats and less post-production editing.

VERTICAL FRAMING AND REFLECTIONS

Panel selection and lighting strategy minimize moiré, immersing your talent and enhancing the world our teams build to define your project.

CLOSE-UP FIDELITY

Reliable genlock across sources avoids artifacts and ensures that the world we've build together strikes the hearts and minds of your audience.

PROJECT VIGNETTE: JACKSON WANG - "GBAD"

STYPE FOLLOWER IN A COMPLEX MOTION SHOT

Directed by Rich Lee, photographed by Chris Probst, ASC. On a key setup, we used our fully integrated Stype Follower system to track a hero prop through a multi‑axis move while maintaining parallax, reflections, and practical lighting sync in real time.

The Follower feed drove precise object transforms inside Unreal, letting camera, lighting, and VFX collaborate live and lock final‑pixel on select beats.

ON SET

Our Stype Follower integration enables reliable object tracking through complex motion, maintaining tight sync across departments. The system supports sophisticated follower tracking for complex object moves with dependable synchronization, so camera, art, and VFX can iterate faster together. This stability lets teams lock final‑pixel on key beats, cutting down on downstream compositing work and reducing retakes.

COMPETITIVE CONTEXT

Some stages emphasize tighter pixel pitch or IP‑based routing. Those specs can be valuable, but the deciding factors for most shoots are on‑set speed, consistency, and creative flexibility. Synapse optimizes for those outcomes first, while remaining ready to integrate IP workflows and emerging tools as they make practical sense for your production.

HOW WE WORK WITH YOU

We meet you where your project is, map the needs, prove them quickly on stage, and support the shoot with specialists dedicated to sync, color, and wall moves. The result is fewer unknowns and more usable footage.
